The Angels of Hope Cancer Information Resource Board comprises of the following individuals:

Indra K. Turnbull – Founder and President - The Cancer Information Resource Foundation With over twenty-five years of senior management experience, principally in the technology sector where, in association with her late husband David, she helped to build and manage companies in areas as diverse as the social printing industry to the recruitment sector – the common thread being that each of the businesses were supported by and based on a technology solution.  The Turnbulls became actively engaged in the quest for cancer information when her husband was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma two years ago.  After being told there were no viable treatment options open to them for the disease, the aggressively researched clinical trials and it was through this process that the need for a comprehensive and “layman’s” interpretation for a clinical trial database was identified along with other informational resources, principally Internet based, to assist patients to make informed decisions regarding their treatment and care options.  In addition, a second mission and objective the Turnbulls wished to initiate was a patient travel assistance program which would be supported through the donation of frequent flyer miles to the foundation.  This program would provide aid to patients who are forced to travel for treatment but who are unable to bear the expense on a long-term basis and who cannot access organizations such as Corporate Angels or Angel Flight due to the huge demand.  Ms. Turnbull is an active participant in the Clinical Trials Summit, an organization to further patient participation in clinical trials, and a member of its Technology Work Group.

Dr. Johann de Bono, MD, PhD – Senior Clinical Investigator - The Institute for Drug Development, Cancer Therapy and Research Center San Antonio, Texas.   Dr. de Bono, who not only holds a degree in medicine but also a PhD in biochemistry, is a highly respected clinical investigator in the area of state of the art new drugs and other therapeutics for patients with all types of cancers; phase I studies; new drug development; clinical pharmacology.  He has been awarded innumerable government grants for his research work and recently has been offered the position of Head of Cancer Research – Phase I Trials at the Royal Marsden Hospital in the United Kingdom .

Dr. Heidi Ehrenberger,  PhD, RN, AOCN.  Consultant and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville , Tennessee . She is an advanced oncology certified nurse with broad clinical cancer research nursing experience, including that of a research nurse, clinical research coordinator, and principal investigator. Dr. Ehrenberger is the Coordinator, ex-officio, of the Oncology Nursing Society’s Clinical Trial Nurses Special Interest Group (SIG) and has been an active member of the ONS for over ten years. She has held professional roles at the National Cancer Institute as a public information specialist and scientific review administrator for the PDQ cancer information database. She is an Editorial Review Board member of the Oncology Nursing Forum and member of the Oak Ridge Associated Universities/Oak Ridge National Laboratory Institutional Review Board (IRB). Dr. Ehrenberger served as a section editor and author for the Manual for Clinical Trials Nursing, a seminal 380-page text published by the Oncology Nursing Press. She has extensive program management experience and has facilitated numerous educational programs for health professionals related to cancer clinical trials.

Rex Hardaway – Vice President and Director of Procurement and Technology Acquisition - Emory University.  Selected by iSource magazine as one of the top 50 eCommerce innovators in US. Currently employed by Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he serves as the Director of Procurement and Materials Services, managing an annual procurement budget exceeding $700 million and the deployment of eCommerce applications through the institution. Has twice served as a director for the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and as a member of the elite GOLD Leadership Task Force charged with deploying innovative management systems throughout the executive leadership team. Rex holds a Masters of Science Degree in Management Science from Texas A&M University, currently serves as the Chairman of Board for the Georgia Soccer Development Foundation, serves as the Past Chairman and current BOD for the Georgia State Soccer Association, has served as President and as member of the BOD for numerous professional organization and civic clubs throughout the Atlanta area.

Thomas D. Sherman, Esq., – Partner  - Lord Bissell and Brook, a large, national law firm with headquarters in Chicago .  Mr. Sherman completed his military service in 1968 after graduating from the University of Michigan Business School in 1966, then he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude and Order of the Coif, in 1971.    He has been actively practicing law for 31 years with private firms and public companies.  He is the former general Counsel   of Leggett & Platt, Incorporated and Coca-Cola Enterprises and specializes in corporate and general law.  Mr. Sherman, in addition to being a successful and highly respected corporate attorney, is a prostate cancer survivor.  As well as being a board member, Mr. Sherman also serves as corporate secretary and provides legal counsel and advice to the Angels of Hope Cancer Information Resource.  

Susan Hunter - Director of Marketing & Public Relations – Greenberg Farrow.  Susan Hunter has 14 years of management experience with 10 years in telecommunications and 4 years in professional services.  Ms. Hunter has held positions in Marketing, Business Development, Finance, Operations and Sales Support.  Her diverse background provides a unique view of the total business operations not typically found in marketing personnel. Ms. Hunter was diagnosed with a rare form of cervical cancer a few years ago and now is directing her talents and energies working with the Angels of Hope Cancer Information Resource to help provide and disseminate information to other cancer patients.  

Mrs. Kim King – Native Atlantan, former educator and wife of developer King Kim, Ms. King has been active in supporting many philanthropic organizations in Atlanta .  Most recently, with the diagnosis of her husband with multiple myeloma, Ms. King has taken a great deal of interest in the dissemination of clinical trial information to cancer patients and becoming a patient advocate for cancer patients.  She is an active and highly supportive member of the Angels of Hope Cancer Information Resource. 

Coach Roy T. Benson, MPE, C.F.I., is an exercise scientist and coach. He has a Master's Degree in physical education with emphasis on exercise physiology, from the University of Florida and a achelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College . He has worked as a specialist in adult fitness since 1976, and holds a national certification as Fitness Instructor from the American College of Sports Medicine. He has presented more than 400 professional papers and lectures for academic and popular audiences.
