A Story of Hope
An Introduction to and Extracts from
The Silent Terrorist
On September 11, 2001 terrorists assaulted the heart and soul of the United States sending not only citizens of this country but people all around the world into a state of shock and despair.

On December 8, 2000 the writer's husband experienced an assault equally devastating -- and one which attacks 1.268 million people each year - when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

As the lives of all Americans were changed by the events of September 11, so are the lives of the victims and families of this most malevolent of diseases when they are struck.

The Silent Terrorist is one family's story following the diagnosis; a journey during which they not only faced losing a husband and father, but during which they lost their business and faced foreclosure on their home. In spite of the adversity they faced, their story is not one of gloom nor pessimism, but one of hope, courage and tenacity. For out of the ashes of despair, they have taken the experience and knowledge they gained to help offer others hope in their fight to thwart the silent terrorist that 15 million people in the United States alone currently are battling.

The book describes the emotional turmoil the family faced, shares stories of friendship and betrayal, provides an insight into clinical trials and new treatments, the importance of good nutrition, but above all offers the reader hope and faith in overcoming the very worst of odds. The book is a combination of prose and verse. The extracts that follow are some of the verses and the photographs from the book.
